Valarie Rose is a California-licensed embalmer (EMB 7910) and funeral director (FD 2851). She is a 1987 graduate of San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, holds a bachelor’s degree in business management, a master’s degree in human resources, and a Doctorate in Education. She has been employed in funeral service since 1986 and has been a faculty member and the program coordinator for the Funeral Service Education Program at American River College for the past 11 years. She has 30 years of experience working in funeral homes, including management, embalming, restorative art, and funeral directing. She teaches in both the Arts and Sciences areas of the program with teaching experience in courses such as Introduction to Funeral Service, Funeral Directing I Lecture, Funeral Directing Lab, Funeral Directing II Lecture, Funeral Directing II Lab, Funeral Service Law and Ethics, Funeral Service Management, Pathology for Funeral Service, Merchandising for Funeral Service, Restorative Art Lecture, Restorative Art Lab, Embalming I, Embalming Lab, Internship in Funeral Service Lecture and Lab, Funeral Service Counseling. Dr. Rose has had experience in funeral home management, embalming, restorative arts, and funeral home law.

Valarie has served as an expert witness on four cases, with several cases pending both within and outside of California.
